Freiburg classic walk
The tour will explain how Freiburg grew from a small community into the vibrant city of today. We will pass several historic buildings during the tour, each of which has a story to tell.
You will hear about the first German purity of wine law. Why did Erasmus of Rotterdam complain about the city? Why was the University of Freiburg founded? What purpose do the so called “Bächle” (small waterways) serve? What happens when you step into one by mistake?
We will also visit the famous cathedral of Freiburg! There you will learn the answers to questions such as: Who paid for the construction? What stories do the stained glass windows have to tell? Who painted the famous high altar? And where did the painter hide?
